Hello everyone!! How is your vidding going? I have to admit that I've spent the week searching for the right song :) Just today I finally downloaded it and am actually starting to think about editing.

I confess I'm a bit curious about one thing: In contrast to the previous exercises, this one has much less rules and restrictions than the others. For those of you who have already taken a stab at it, or even if you're just contemplating doing so, do you find the increased freedom a relief? Or would a few more restrictions help you to dive in more easily? Is the focus on a side character enough of a limit?

It was really interesting to see what dropping all the constraints did. I liked focusing on making it one minute exactly - it helps make tough calls about which clips to use, and not "cheat" and go over just a little bit to fit one more thing and then one more after that.

Going through an 11-episode anime canon I ended up with 30 clips total. That's a ridiculously small amount of source material compared to what I've been working with before, so that was its own challenge. I did feel the temptation to vid the whole song I was working on, but I honestly don't think I could have filled almost four minutes in a satisfying way given the content limitations.
