Vexercise 6 Drops: Genre mashing/Alternative Universe/Constructed Narrative vexercise!

(So I just am a day late on everything this week... whoops sorry about that)

We're on to Vexercise 6:

The OG Version:

Genre-Mashing/Alternative Universe: Produce a 1 minute video edit that combines your selected source with another source from a different genre (i.e. fantasy, western, sitcom, film noir), and/or use editing to transform the genre of your source text. Audio can be of your choosing.

And the Vexercise 2.0 version:

 

Alternative Narrative: 1 minute vid where you create an alternative/constructed narrative. (I know this is a possibility with the OG version, but it’s hard, and no one really went for it last time--we all leaned much more to the genre mixing side of things!) 
 

Both versions of this vexercise is inspired by the many amazing genre shifting AU/constructed narrative vids coming out of Chinese vidding these days, but there are many histories to these types of genre mash ups. Share your favorites (or share thoughts/ask questions) in the comments!

This is my favorite exercise, to be honest so I'm excited to see what everyone makes.

I was trying to think of an angle into this exercise all weekend. Then, an alternate narrative popped into my head while I was at work today. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to make the program do some of the fancier things I haven't tried yet. Geez, why can't I just mind-mend with my laptop and download the vid from my brain?!? 🤣

Alas, the mind-mend did not happen, so I just had to make do with what I had :D I did play around with some features that were new to me, which gave me some of the effects I was going for. I was really pleased when I found the song, which had a lovely long instrumental intro and lyrics that were surprisingly apt—almost tailor-made for what I wanted.

Amazing!!!! Honestly I never thought those four would become the dream team, but they all look truly fab together. Plus I love heist AUs, and your vid had an amazing story line. There would be no shortage of fancy cars, fancy clothes, and fancy drinks with Sharon and Zemo around.

Love to see another Dessa fan! I've wanted to edit to her for ages, but matching a flow takes a specific level of skill, and it helps having the right combo, as for this source without giving too many spoilers, their relationship asks the question "what if a soulmate bond was used for evil," and about a sort of push and pull that works really great with "Matches to Paper Dolls" and for the edit itself I went with this idea of what if they skipped all the questions and just gave into the pull.

Okay so this came to me after hearing bonibaru talking about her Vexercise 6 from last year at VidUKon so you could say I shamelessly stole her idea or you could say "was inspired by" either way, here it is. Also inspired by that amazing CQL RPF constructed narrative vid I mentioned above, obviously this one is not in the same league haha.
