Vexercises 3.0
Hello Vexercise folks old & new! Lola and I have been discussing getting a new round going for Spring and we have decided that now is the time for Vexercises 3.0!
This round will consist of seven vexercises, including the free vid, with two weeks to complete each one (technically! Please see below regarding our “due dates” policy) There will be a choice for most of the rounds, generally drawing on the O.G/2.0 Vexercises with some tweaks here and there.
Logistics:
The way this works is: We drop a vexercise every two weeks on Sunday, with some explanation around it and examples. Feel free to ask questions or to share examples of vids that are in the vein of a particular challenge, or relevant resources in that post. We want this to be a collaborative space :)
A week later on the Saturday we'll make a check in post to see how everyone is doing. And the following Saturday, the vexercise will be "due." Then, the next day (Sunday) we'll drop the next vexercise, and follow the same two-week cycle!
Quick note on due dates and rules:
Due dates are always as firm or as flexible as you need them to be for your creative process and/or RL schedule. And that goes for pretty much anything re: the vexercises, including the "rules" of each vexercise, even the one minute length. You can take them as iron clad if that helps you, or you can approach them as more flexible guidelines if you'd rather.
We’ll be dropping the first vexercise next Sunday May 29th, which means it will be "due" on Saturday June 11th with the next one dropping June 12th. For now, please feel free to introduce yourself in the comments and let us know what source you might be wanting to play with (if you have decided! If not, feel free just to say hi or ask any questions you might have!)

I've been in CQL/The Untamed fandom from November 2020 until very recently, but a month ago I fell deeply and obsessively in love with K Drama My Country: The New Age and that's what I'm going to be vidding for this round - because I love to just be a massive sobbing ball of angst at all times :D
I'm super excited to be helping Lola run this round and also to have a brand new source to play around with!

At the moment I almost exclusively make Naruto AMVs (for two years now, wow) but I may branch out for this and use a movie... I guess I have a week to decide! I'm only really familiar with animated sources
because that way it's easier to edit out anything you don't like :Dno subject

A little intro:
I haven't been into any particular fandom for a number of years. Last one I was really into was Stucky which I fell out of around 2016. Brief flirtations with Black Sails, The Old Guard (which I used for 2021 Vexercises). Still enjoy parts of the MCU and try to keep up (Eternals, argh, painful). I did a fair amount of vidding many years ago. Started to get back into it last year.

I am considering installing video editing software so I can play… don’t tell

I’m Francis, haven’t made fanworks in many many years, but have been watching
nu_breed vid and might give it a little go. I’ll be using My Country: The New Age and we’ll see how far I get.

This is a complete and wonderful surprise :D

I feel like I need a nudge to try new techniques and approaches to composing narrative from source materials so this should be just the kickstart I need. I've been thinking about working with Kurosawa's No Regrets for Our Youth for a while, so I might use that. I'll have to think about it, though.

I’ve been wanting to use ENHYPEN mvs as a core for a vid ever since they debuted, but also recently got into the Thai drama Something in my Room and have all that source now, so I hope to work with those too.
I was thinking of using shotcut since it’s free and open source and seems like it’ll run okay on my pretty old laptop (Windows 10, 8 GB RAM, i7 2.0 GHz CPU, nvidia GeForce GTX 560M graphics chip), but if there is any other software someone would recommend I’m all ears! (The number of choices are a little overwhelming.)

We are planning on putting a tech post together to chat about this stuff sometime before next Sunday so hopefully people will have some suggestions that might help!

Word of Honor has still taken over my brain, so I may be using that.

I have a small amount of experience with video editing and I'm currently in My Country: The New Age fandom (please join us, it's tiny!) so I will try to use that and maybe some other Asian dramas, although not sure which ones yet!

Yes everyone needs to join us in MCTNA - these boys will break your heartsssssssss and you will love them for it ;__________;

I'll probably be using Star Wars (mostly movies) as source material.
